Chevening Energy Market Reform Fellowship 2024.

The Chevening Energy Market Reform Fellowship offers senior officials and professionals from the energy sector in China the opportunity to spend three months in Dundee as a visiting Chevening Fellow.

The fellowship is hosted at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee. The programme is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office.

Held at renowned UK institutions, the fellowship offers an intensive academic and practical learning experience, combining lectures, seminars, workshops, and site visits. Participants are introduced to the latest trends and innovations in energy markets, such as renewable energy integration, energy transition strategies, and regulatory frameworks. The program also focuses on the economic and policy challenges involved in reforming energy markets, particularly in regions where access to energy is a critical issue.

Throughout the fellowship, participants have opportunities to engage with leading energy experts, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, allowing for a rich exchange of ideas and practices. This networking aspect is crucial for fostering collaboration between fellows and global energy leaders, as well as for building connections that can support future reforms in their home countries.

By the end of the program, fellows are expected to return to their countries with enhanced skills and a deeper understanding of how to implement effective energy reforms. The Chevening Energy Market Reform Fellowship plays a key role in advancing global energy policy, especially in developing nations, where energy sector reforms can have a profound impact on economic development, sustainability, and poverty reduction.

Fellows will have the opportunity to spend time at the University of Dundee for three months to work on a specific research project that supports the broader aims of the UK-China Energy Dialogue, as agreed with the CEPMLP academic supervisor.

Fellows are provided unrestricted access to classes, lectures, and seminars which will feed into their own chosen area of research, with support from an academic supervisor for the duration of their fellowship. At the time of interview, the candidate’s proposed research will be discussed with a University of Dundee faculty member.
