Scholarship Opportunities for Undergraduate Students at Alvernia University

Alvernia University extends a limited number of international scholarships to eligible undergraduate degree-seeking students, underscoring its commitment to fostering academic excellence and diversity within its student body. Prospective applicants keen on availing themselves of these opportunities must complete a distinct scholarship application alongside their admission application. It is imperative for all undergraduate aspirants desiring to pursue their studies at Alvernia University to fulfill the online admission application requirement.

Upon securing admission to the university, international undergraduate students are invited to vie for the coveted scholarship opportunities, which are structured across various tiers of support, ranging from $10,000 to $24,000 annually as a merit award. These scholarships are earmarked for first-year international students as well as those transferring from overseas colleges or universities, excluding those located within the United States. Alvernia University extends scholarships to each accepted international freshman and transfer student aspiring to attain an undergraduate degree as a traditional day scholar at its primary Reading campus.

These merit-based scholarships are renewable for four years, spanning up to eight semesters, maintaining a consistent disbursement throughout the duration. It is pertinent to note that scholarships cannot be stacked with any other financial awards, including governmental scholarships. Hence, candidates already receiving alternate financial aid are ineligible to apply for the Alvernia International Scholarship.

Furthermore, certain prerequisites must be met by applicants, including enrollment as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student attending predominantly daytime classes, as well as attaining a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 by the scholarship application deadline of May 1. Compliance with English proficiency and financial criteria is also imperative.

Alvernia University acknowledges and rewards academic excellence through its merit-based scholarship offerings for incoming first-year and transfer students, which are determined based on their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). These scholarships include:

Presidential Scholarship: $26,000

Trustees’ Scholarship: $25,000

Veronica Founder’s Scholarship: $23,000

Achievement Award: $21,000

Heritage Award: $19,000

Additionally, for transfer students, there are tailored scholarship opportunities:

Provost Scholarship: $21,000, awarded to students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher from all previous institutions and/or membership in Phi Theta Kappa.

Bernardine Scholarship: $19,000, designated for students with a cumulative GPA between 3.25 and 3.49 from all previous institutions.

Dean Scholarship: $17,000, conferred upon students with a cumulative GPA between 3.0 and 3.24 from all previous institutions.

Transfer Scholarship: $15,000, granted to students with a cumulative GPA between 2.5 and 2.99 from all previous institutions.

To retain scholarship eligibility throughout their academic journey, recipients must enroll each semester as full-time students, completing a minimum of 12 credits, while maintaining a minimum grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

While Alvernia University does not offer full tuition scholarship opportunities for international students, it encourages them to explore external scholarship avenues for additional financial support, providing suggested sites for their convenience.
