PublishThe P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund provides scholarships to international women pursuing graduate degrees in the U.S. and Canada to foster global peace through education. IPS recipients carry the spirit of P.E.O. back to their home countries where the degrees they have earned positively impact people’s lives around the globe.
The scholarship is based upon demonstrated need; however, the award is not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses. At the time of application, the applicant is required to indicate additional financial resources adequate to meet her estimated expenses. Examples of additional resources are personal and family funds, tuition waivers, work, scholarships, teaching assistantships, study grants and other scholarships. The maximum amount awarded to a student is $12,500. Lesser amounts may be awarded according to individual needs.

Requirements For The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund (IPS)
A woman is eligible for consideration for an International Peace Scholarship if she:
- Is a woman outside the United States and Canada who is seeking an advanced degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Canada;
- will return to her home country to utilize her education to make a positive impact and foster global peace; and
- has a full year of coursework remaining and is enrolled and in residence in the U.S. or Canada for the entire school year; or
- Is an international student attending Cottey College
Please note:
- Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working only on dissertations are not eligible as first-time applicants.
- A student who is a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada is not eligible. A student with residency for tax purposes only is permitted.
- Scholarships are not given for online courses, research, internships or for practical training if not combined with coursework.
Selection Process
Timeline:
- September 15, 2024: IPS begins to accept Eligibility Forms
- December 15, 2024: Last day to submit Eligibility Forms
- February 1, 2025: Last day to submit completed application materials from applicants already enrolled in the graduate program and school for which their scholarship is intended
- March 15, 2025: Last day to submit completed application materials from applicants not yet enrolled in the graduate program or school for which the scholarship is intended. Last day to submit completed application materials for applicants who will be attending Cottey College
- May 1, 2025: Notification of scholarship awards
- June 1, 2025: Last day for students to accept IPS scholarships
