University of Cambridge Centre of African Studies Visiting Fellowships 2024.

The University of Cambridge Centre of African Studies Visiting Fellowships are prestigious opportunities aimed at scholars from Africa to engage in advanced research and academic collaboration. These fellowships are designed to foster the exchange of ideas and knowledge between African scholars and the academic community at Cambridge, promoting a deeper understanding of African issues and contributing to the global body of scholarship on Africa.

Fellows are typically offered for a period of six months, during which they have access to the university’s extensive resources, including its libraries, research facilities, and academic networks. This period allows fellows to focus on their research projects without the usual constraints of their home institutions, enabling them to produce high-quality scholarly work. The fellowship provides an excellent platform for fellows to present their research, engage in intellectual discourse, and collaborate with other scholars, enhancing their professional development and academic careers.

Moreover, the Centre of African Studies fosters a supportive environment, offering fellows mentorship and opportunities to participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences. This interaction not only benefits the fellows but also enriches the academic community at Cambridge by introducing new perspectives and insights. The fellowship encourages interdisciplinary approaches, drawing participants from various fields such as history, anthropology, politics, and economics, which contributes to a holistic understanding of African studies.

The University of Cambridge Centre of African Studies Visiting Fellowships play a crucial role in bridging academic communities across continents. By supporting African scholars, the program enhances global academic collaboration, enriches research on African issues, and promotes mutual understanding and respect between scholars from diverse backgrounds.

The Centre of African Studies, with the generous assistance of the A.G. Leventis Foundation and the Isaac Newton Trust, is pleased to announce two Visiting Research Fellowships to be held at the University of Cambridge.

The aim of the Fellowships is to enable the fellows to focus on a period of research and writing in Cambridge.

Benefits

Travel, visa, college accommodation, and maintenance costs will be paid by the Centre on behalf of the fellow. The Centre is not able to provide additional sums for the travel and living expenses of anyone accompanying the Fellow to Cambridge. The sum is not subject to tax in the UK.
