Each year, the Board of Admissions awards the Presidential Scholarship to our incoming first-year students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. In addition to being among our most academically talented students, Presidential Scholars demonstrate excellence beyond the classroom and are leaders in their schools and communities. This $25,000 tuition scholarship is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study at BU.

The Presidential Scholarship provides recipients with a $25,000 tuition scholarship that is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study, contingent on maintaining satisfactory academic progress. This significant financial support helps reduce the burden of tuition costs, allowing students to focus more on their studies and extracurricular pursuits.

Eligibility for the Presidential Scholarship is highly competitive, targeting incoming first-year students who have shown outstanding academic achievements throughout their high school careers. Typically, candidates are among the top performers in their class, with excellent grades, rigorous coursework, and high standardized test scores. In addition to academic excellence, the selection process also considers leadership roles, community service, extracurricular involvement, and other notable achievements.

There is no separate scholarship application; all applicants are automatically considered based on their academic records and personal achievements. Requirements For The Boston University Presidential Scholarship

  • Rank in the top 5% of their high school class
  • Have shown incredible extracurricular achievements in their schools and communities

Though test scores are not required, students who submit scores typically:

  • Have SAT scores above 1500 and ACT scores above 33
  • Be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens are considered for all merit awards and other scholarships.
  • Be international students are considered for the Trustee and Presidential Scholarships only.
