2024 University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) Masters in Global Nursing Leadership Admissions For African Students.

UGHE’s Office of Admissions adopts a holistic approach to the admissions process. The Admissions Committee considers a wide array of application criteria, encompassing supplemental documents, professional experience, examination results, interviews, and overall alignment with UGHE’s mission and vision.

The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) offers a Master’s program designed to prepare future leaders in global health. The UGHE Master’s program provides a comprehensive curriculum that combines interdisciplinary coursework, practical training, and field experiences to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to address complex health challenges around the world.

The program covers a wide range of topics relevant to global health, including epidemiology, health systems strengthening, policy analysis, social determinants of health, and leadership development. Students have the opportunity to engage with faculty who are experts in their respective fields and to collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

One of the unique aspects of the UGHE Master’s program is its emphasis on experiential learning and field immersion. Students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings through internships, field placements, and research projects conducted in collaboration with local communities and organizations.

UGHE’s commitment to equity, justice, and sustainability is integrated throughout the curriculum, ensuring that students are equipped to address the root causes of health disparities and to advocate for policies and interventions that promote health equity and social justice.

Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared to take on leadership roles in a variety of settings, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and international development agencies. They are equipped with the tools, insights, and networks needed to drive positive change and improve health outcomes for communities around the world.

Benefits

  • Successful candidates receive a 100% tuition- only scholarship. Successful candidates will be required to sign a letter committing to completing the program, failure to which they will be required to refund UGHE the entire scholarship amount. 
  • 80% of the MGNL will be delivered online and students are required to have access to functional computers and high-speed internet. Students will report to the UGHE campus for examination for 2 weeks each semester. 
  • Students are expected to cater for ALL costs outside UGHE’s Butaro campus. These costs are mainly air tickets to and from Rwanda, accommodation and meals outside UGHE’s Butaro campus, and visa fees.
  • Additionally, students are required to bring their own personal items and toiletries. UGHE does not provide students with pocket money or living stipends. 

Requirements For The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) Masters in Global Nursing Leadership

Admission to the Masters in Global Nursing Leadership requires the student to meet the minimum admission requirements for graduate study of the University of Global Health Equity and the following requirements of the Center for Nursing and Midwifery:

  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program            
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience as a registered nurse (RN)
  • Currently employed.
  • Current non – restricted registered nurse(RN) practice license
  • All academic documents presented must be from an accredited institution. 
  • Completed applications must be accompanied with NOTARIZED COPIES of academic documents. 
  • Proficiency in English to enable the student to both comprehend learning material and to engage in verbal and written communication at the graduate level.
  • MGNL aims to educate students who have a global interest, a commitment to leadership, and a desire to address issues of inequity and disparity through health delivery and Candidates must be committed to high academic integrity.?

Please be mindful of the following dates. All candidates who advance in the process will be required to sit for an entrance exam and an admissions interview, per the schedule below.

  • Two professional referees
  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A state of purpose essay describing the applicant’s interest in nursing leadership and the MGNL’s relationship to those goals
  • A personal interview with UGHE graduate facult
