Scholarship Details:
This scholarship provides a doctoral stipend equivalent to the Research Councils UK National Minimum Doctoral Stipend, which was £18,622 for the 2024/24 academic year (the rate for 2024/25 will be announced later), for a duration of 3.5 years. It covers tuition fees at the home rate and includes access to additional research support funding. For international applicants, Kent will waive the difference between Home and International fees.

Criteria:
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate academic excellence and exceptional research potential.
Applicants should possess, or anticipate obtaining, a first or upper second-class honours degree in a relevant field, ideally complemented by a Master’s degree or its equivalent.
Applicants must have secured the support of a supervisor before submitting their application.
Eligibility:
This award is open to each UK citizens and global candidates (which includes EU nationals).
To qualify as a home student, candidates must meet the following criteria and associated residency requirements:
Be a UK National,
Have settled status,
Have pre-settled status, or
Have indefinite leave to remain or enter the UK.
Candidates who do not meet the above criteria will be classified as international students.
For overseas applicants (including EU nationals), Kent will cover the difference between Home and Overseas fees. However, it is important to note that there is a 30% cap on the number of international studentships that can be granted.
The University of Kent mandates that all non-native English speakers demonstrate a minimum proficiency in both written and spoken English before commencing a postgraduate degree.
