The ALC Fellowship programmes seek to produce high performing graduates with identifiable leadership characteristics and skills, who generate cutting-edge research on peace, security and development and participate in institutional, national and regional networks to train and mentor the next generation of African academics.
Established over 10 years ago, the ALC has played a critical role in shaping the next generation of African leaders, nurturing talent and African ideas and knowledge to advance the transformation of African societies. Located in both Nairobi, Kenya and King`s College London, UK, the ALC strives to inform and influence academic, research and policy discourses on leadership, peace, security & development on the African continent and globally.
Each year, the ALC offers fully-funded fellowships to outstanding individuals from across Africa who demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing peace, security, and development in their communities and beyond. The program provides fellows with the opportunity to undertake advanced research, participate in capacity-building workshops, and engage in policy dialogues with leading experts and practitioners in the field.
Fellows enrolled in the ALC Peace, Security & Development Fellowship Program benefit from a multidisciplinary approach to learning, drawing on insights from political science, international relations, sociology, economics, and other relevant disciplines. Through rigorous academic training and practical fieldwork, fellows gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex challenges facing Africa and develop innovative solutions to address them.
The ALC places a strong emphasis on fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, where fellows can exchange ideas, collaborate on research projects, and build networks with like-minded peers and mentors. By nurturing a community of emerging leaders, the program seeks to amplify the voices of African scholars and practitioners in shaping policy and practice in the fields of peace, security, and development.
