Named in honor of the former Chairman of our Board of Trustees, the Rowan Williams Cambridge Studentship is a comprehensive award available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. It covers tuition fees and living expenses, and in certain cases, assists with upfront expenses like travel, visa costs, and the immigration health surcharge.

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Hold a conditional offer of admission to the University of Cambridge for any degree.
  • Be from an area of instability or a conflict zone.
  • Be, or have been, at risk of discrimination, persecution, suffering, violence, or other human rights abuses.

Note: Refugee status is not a prerequisite for applying for this scholarship.

Value: The studentship covers:

  • University tuition fees.
  • Annual stipend for a single person.
  • Traveling expenses.
  • Visa and immigration costs.
  • Health surcharge costs.

How to Apply: Postgraduate Applicants:

  • Apply by the funding deadline for the chosen course of study (Graduate Admissions) and receive conditional admission to the University of Cambridge.
  • Tick the box to apply for funding and complete the Cambridge Trust section of the online form as part of the admission application via the University’s Applicant Portal. There is no need to specify consideration for the Rowan Williams Studentship explicitly.

Undergraduate Applicants:

  • Apply for admission to the University of Cambridge through UCAS by the published deadline.
  • If offered conditional admission by a Cambridge College, complete an application for undergraduate scholarships sent by the College (including a personal statement on how they meet eligibility criteria).
